Bhagavad Gita 2.14: Feelings come and go
Chapter 2, verse 14 · Krishna to Arjuna
Contact with the senses brings cold and heat, pleasure and pain. These come and go and are not permanent. Learn to bear them patiently.
Context
One of Krishna’s first practical teachings. Having explained that the self is eternal, he turns to everyday experience: heat and cold, pleasure and pain are passing contacts of the senses.
What it means today
When a difficult emotion arrives, name it and add “for now”. Remembering that every feeling has an end makes it easier to bear without reacting.
